Health & Safety statement for OTP Ltd
OTP prioritizes the Health and Safety of its clients and employees, ensuring that the workplace and event site under its charge is as safe as possible at all times.
All tasks are risk assessed, with appropriate method statements produced. All temporary demountable structures owned, designed and installed by OTP have full structural calculations; and all equipment is regularly inspected, maintained and certified. OTP also complies with current CDM regulations which encompasses all aspects of design, build, certification and staff welfare.
2015 saw the introduction of The Construction Design & Management (CDM 2015) Regulations and its application to temporary demountable structures used in the UK events industry. An industry code of practice was developed in consultation between the events industry and the relevant enforcement agencies and a PDF copy of this document can be downloaded and read here:
Equipment and Structure installation is always overseen by qualified staff, and where appropriate, handover sheets are produced for each installation. OTP regularly constructs bespoke structures for one off events, and has a close working relationship with our main rigging manufacturers Milos and Layher. OTP also has close working relationships with structural engineers to ensure truss or custom scaffold structures built are suitably assessed; modelled where necessary; structurally and wind speed rated; and adequately ballasted and anchored.
OTP invests significant amounts of time and resources into training and, across the team, various qualifications are held including: Rigging Training; IPAF certificates; a range of different Forklift licenses; First Aid qualifications; and product-specific knowledge and competency training where applicable.
For temporary power installations OTP also employs qualified electricians to ensure installations can be certified to comply with both BS7909 and British Standard wiring regulations. All relevant electrical equipment (portable appliances, cables etc.) are regularly PAT tested in addition to being visually inspected when prepped prior to a job.
OTP carries £10m public and employer liability insurance, details of which will be distributed upon confirmation of a booking, along with other relevant documentation.
